I finally got to shoot my first arena show! It’s taken some time, but what a show to get for it right?
I traveled down to Manchester Arena for The Libertines and guests for my second show of the year, and it wasn’t quite what I was expecting to say the least!
First off, every photographers nightmare, my headliners pass went missing! Luckily after frantically emailing the press company that organized it as I was shooting the support, The Libertines fantastic tour manager saved the day at last minute by bringing my pass down.
When I got down into the pit waiting for the band to hit the stage, I was faced with my next challenge: 25+ photographers in a cramped pit with security. The majority of which were huddled like penguins at the left hand side waiting eagerly to get shots of Pete Doherty, so I figured I’d make use of the free space and get shots of the rest of the band first at the right had side of the stage first.
It seemed to pay off, and I managed to get over the the left once everyone had moved around, but it was ridiculously tough to get into the perfect positions.
A pretty interesting introduction to arena shows for me, but a brilliant one!
