After such an incredible year in 2016 shooting shows it was always going to be difficult to top it in 2017. For 2017 I had set myself a target to make my dream of shooting my favourite band a reality, and also do my best to photograph some of the biggest bands in the world. I guess I’ve always been confident in myself to photograph pretty much any band having shot so many shows in the past few years, but it’s easy to feel the nerves when you care so much about making sure you get the most out of those first 3 songs so you don’t feel disappointed when leaving the photo pit. The year started out pretty strongly and within a month I found myself being able to shoot two of my favourite bands (Green Day & Kings Of Leon) both at Leeds Arena. Not only was it an amazing experience, but it was a huge confidence boost proving to myself that I could finally put myself in that position and get some great content.

Being able to photograph Leeds Festival for a second year running was another highlight of the year, and It meant I got to tick off a bunch of new bands from my bucket list. As always, It’s a great weekend working aside a fantastic bunch of photographers, and this year was no different leaving me with so many pleasant memories! I have to say I was gutted not to be able to shoot the main stage solely for the fact Liam Gallagher had returned, and being able to photograph such an icon in music would have been incredible. However, luckily for me the year ended with Liam Gallagher being my last show to photograph for 2017 which was an incredible way to close out the year!

However, As fantastic it was to finally photograph the likes of Green Day, Kings Of Leon, Liam Gallagher, Blink-182 and so many more, it was one show at Manchester Apollo in June which made everything I’ve done worth every bit of effort and hard work. Photographing my favorite band Paramore was always my dream, and at times in the past few years, it looked as though it might never happen for various reasons. But being able to photograph Hayley & Taylor, and also see Zac behind the drums was a real special moment for me being stood in that photo pit. I always thought if it was ever going to happen it would likely be in an arena, so to be able to do it in an intimate venue in comparison made everything that little more special!

Another highlight was being invited to be a part of Don Broco‘s fantastic headline show at Alexandra Palace in November. It gifted me the opportunity to shoot my first London show, and what a show & venue to do it with! Aside the photography it was great to catch up with so many friends I hadn’t seen for so long at the after party and over the weekend too.

I’m hoping to relive a few of these moments again in 2018 and continue push myself further than before, as well as experiment some new techniques in shooting and editing to make things that bit more interesting. I have to say a big thanks to the press and management that helped sort my passes out for these shows through Soundcheck-Live, as well as the S-L team who have chipped in with some fantastic reviews and photographs themselves over the year to keep things ticking along so smoothly with some great content. I’m sure with the quality of content everyone is producing we will be able to repeat the success this year once again!

Happy New year!

Last year I threw together a bunch of my favourite shots, so this year I decided to pick one photo of each act/set/festival I had photographed in 2017 and put them in chronological order below! It wasn’t quite as easy as I thought it would be to pick (especially with a bit of an OCD moment in only picking landscape shots for consistency!), but below are some of my favourites from the 2017…
